Make history on the move.

Share and discover trails across Wales, taking you on a unique historical and cultural journey through the country’s Celtic landscape. Whether walking or cycling, driving or horse-riding, you can record your favorite trails in real-time using your phone’s GPS, adding associated photos and video along the way.

Irrespective of whether youre enjoying Wales as a visitor or as a resident, use this free app to share your trail with others or download a route to explore a new historical experience that can help you find undiscovered scenery, sounds and Welsh heritage along the way.

View your trails on a map in the palm of your hand, or simply capture your route to upload later; aided by photos or videos from your library or taken there and then. You can use your iPhone to contribute your trail to one of the biggest collaborative online historical projects and upload it directly the People’s Collection Wales website, showing other users your interpretation of Welsh culture, in what is one of the World’s finest landscapes.

Allow your iPhone to find out what items or trails from the Collection are in your immediate vicinity - let it help you understand Wales has changed throughout history, and relate directly to the cultural heritage beneath your feet.

The People’s Collection Wales brings together, for the first time, tens of thousands of digitized assets from the archives of major institutions the Royal Commission, National Library of Wales, National Museum for Wales BBC Wales and Culturenet Cymru in to a single website.

The People’s Collection Wales is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and is an important commitment to develop an innovative bilingual (Welsh and English) approach to collect, interpret, distribute and discuss Wales’ culture and heritage in an online and mobile environment.

Please enjoy this free app, and in the process help us to develop the People’s Collection Wales.
